Akshay Kumar sings Sunny Deol`s Gadar song Ud Ja Kale Kawa in OMG 2

The box office clash between Sunny Deol`s Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar`s OMG 2 has kept trade analysts on their toes. The euphoria among fans is unmatched and the result is evident. While people are flocking to cinema halls to watch the film of their choice, theatres are once again experiencing the best phase. Amid the clash, the audience who watched OMG 2 in cinema halls, must have noticed an interesting connection with regard to Sunny`s Gadar (2001).

In a key scene from OMG 2, Akshay was seen singing the song Ud Ja Kale Kawa from Gadar while lying under a tree at night. He plays the role of Lord Shiva`s messenger. A Shivgan, he ascends on Earth to support Mahadev`s devotee Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi) in his case against his son`s school for not prioritising sex education. The reprised version of Ud Ja Kale Kawa is a part of Gadar 2.

At the box office, OMG 2 has shown positive growth. Despite being stuck in controversies and CBFC`s scanner, the film made it to theatres as scheduled with almost 25 modifications and an `A` rated certificate. The censor board asked the makers to not refer to Akshay`s character as Mahadev as it could bring more trouble to the film. Nudity and masturbation scenes were also modified. Certain dialogues had to be re-dubbed to get a smooth release.

On the other hand, Gadar 2 is expected to cross the 200-crore club today. Without a doubt, the film will get additional benefits due to the Independence Day holiday. OMG 2 could see greater growth too.

OMG 2 also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam among others. It is directed by Amit Rai. The film is backed by Viacom18 Studios, Cape Of Good Films and Wakaoo Films. OMG 2 received positive reviews from the critics and the audience

Gadar 2, co-starring Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, is directed by Anil Sharma. While the film was bashed by critics, Sunny`s fans showed their loyalty and came out in large numbers to show support. Its pre-release buzz and the franchise`s popularity gave the film an additional push.
