It turned out to be a disappointing birthday for Annamalai, who turned 40 on Tuesday. The IPS officer-turned BJP leader visited a temple in the morning and returned home but chose not to visit the counting centre or party office as results started trickling in.
Union minister of state for fisheries L Murugan too was trailing behind DMK candidate and former telecom minister A Raja in neighbouring Nilgiris district.
