NEW DELHI: Congress’ Benny Behanan defeated CPM’s C Raveendranath from Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency with 63,754 votes.
The Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on April 26 during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, alongside other constituencies in Kerala. The polling percentage 71.94 was amongst the highest in the country.
This parliamentary seat includes parts of Thrissur and Ernakulam districts, embodying the socio-political vibrancy characteristic of the state.

A compelling contest is anticipated in the Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency, historically a Congress stronghold. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, Congress candidate Benny Behanan won with 4,73,444 votes (47.8%), while the CPM’s Innocent secured 3,41,170 votes (34.4%). The voter turnout in 2019 was 80.49%
In the 2014 elections, Innocent, running as an independent candidate supported by the LDF, emerged victorious, marking a significant victory for the Left alliance. Underscoring the constituency’s active participation in the democratic process.
