Coimbatore: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable shot himself dead at the Coimbatore international airport on Tuesday. Preliminary inquiry revealed that he had borrowed money from several loan apps and was unable to repay the amount.
The deceased was identified as G Chakradhar, 34, from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh. He was working as a constable attached to the CISF and was posted at the airport.
Around 9.05am on Tuesday, fellow CISF personnel heard a gunshot from inside a toilet at a bulding in the airport terminal.When they rushed to the spot, they found Chakradhar lying in a pool of blood. He had shot himself using an AK 47 assault rifle and died on the spot.
Peelamedu police who were alerted of the incident,retrieved the body and sent to the ESI medical college hospital for a postmortem. Police said his body will be flown to his hometown on Wednesday.
