Coimbatore: Four people were arrested with drugs in two separate incidents in the city over the past two days.
Two people were arrested for illegal possession of methamphetamine and ganja on Sungam Bypass Road. The arrested duo were identified as F Russel Francis, 32, an onion trader from Onapalayam near Thondamuthur, and T Jitender Singh Bhangu, 35, a car driver from Punjab.
They were apprehended by a police team led by enforcement bureau special sub-inspector D Amos Chandran following a specific tip.
Police have seized 5g of methamphetamine, 50g of ganja, three mobile phones and a digital weighing machine from them. They were booked under several sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. Police said the duo were previously accused in a drug case reported in Selvapuram police station limits last year.
Police said one more accused in the case, identified as G Arun, 28, of Palakkad in Kerala, was on the run.
In another incident, two youths were arrested for possession of synthetic drugs on Puttuvikki Road in the city on Monday. Police have seized 2.5g of methamphetamine from them.
The Karumbukadai police identified the arrested youths as J Kaja Hussain, 24, of Arun Nagar at Theethipalayam, and M Feroz Khan, 29, of North Housing Unit at Selvapuram.
Police said Kaja Hussain was previously accused in a murder case in Race Course police station limits, an Arms Act case in Saibaba Colony police station limits and a theft case in Perur police station limits.
