Coimbatore: A 52-year-old man was arrested on Friday for cultivating marijuana (ganja) plants at his residence at Kullakkapalayam near Pollachi. Police seized 13 ganja plants, which they said he used for personal and sales purposes.
The Pollachi taluk police identified the arrested as Eswaran, 52, of JJ Nagar at Kullakkapalayam. He was working as a tailor with a banian company in Tirupur.
He was arrested after police searched his residence following a specific tip. He was booked under several sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. He has been lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison. Further investigation is on.
