Jawan: Shah Rukh Khan`s film sells 557,000 tickets in advance

Shah Rukh Khan has done it yet again and how! After delivering a clean blockbuster in January with Pathaan, the superstar is back with Jawan. With just a couple of hours left for the `First Day First Show` to commence in theatres across the globe, advance bookings for Thursday have closed at midnight. Shattering records, Shah Rukh and Nayanthara`s film is about to take a grand opening. Janmashtami and Dahi Handi holiday has a key role to play. 

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Jawan`s advance booking closed at midnight with 557,000 tickets booked for Thursday. While PVR and INOX have collectively sold 448,000 tickets, Cinepolis stands at 109,000. His tweet read, “#JawanAdvanceBooking status… NOTE: Tickets sold for *Thu* / *Day 1* at NATIONAL CHAINS… Update: Wed, 11.59 pm. #PVR + #INOX: 448,000. #Cinepolis: 109,000. Total: 557,000 tickets sold (sic).”

As per his tweet, Jawan has broken the record of Shah Rukh`s Pathaan. The film had sold 556,000 tickets in advance for the first day. Pathaan was Shah Rukh`s return to the big screen after a gap of 5 years. 

Just a few days before Jawan`s release, Shah Rukh offered prayers at Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple with Nayanthara. His daughter Suhana Khan was also with him. Before the trailer launch, the superstar was at Vaishnodevi to seek blessings. A pre-release event in Chennai was hosted prior to the trailer launch. Shah Rukh interacted with his fans in Dubai and watched the trailer on Burj Khalifa with them. 

Shah Rukh will be sporting multiple looks in Jawan. The jukebox of the film was released on Wednesday on Youtube. Several celebrities including Dharmendra, Mahesh Babu, Lokesh Kanagaraj and others sent their good wishes to the film through social media. 

Jawan is a Red Chillies Entertainment presentation directed by Atlee, produced by Gauri Khan, and co-produced by Gaurav Verma. The film will be released worldwide in theatres on September 7th, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. It also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, Girija Oak Godbole and others in pivotal roles. Deepika Padukone features in the film in a cameo role.
