Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Bhasha Institute on Wednesday released a book ‘Yesudas Sagarasangeetham’ in honour of playback singer K J Yesudas who has enchanted Malayalis for decades.
The event also featured a musical tribute to the legend, and a seminar. Edited and studied by G B Harindranath, the book was unveiled by chief whip N Jayaraj, MLA, at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
Jayaraj highlighted Yesudas’s unparalleled influence on Malayali life and praised his secular approach through his music. He noted that Yesudas’s songs resonate through both the wakefulness and slumber of the Malayali.
Former chief secretary and noted lyricist K Jayakumar, P R Kumara Kerala Varma, K Omanakutty, Soorya Krishnamurthy, Rajashree Warrier, Achyut Shankar S Nair, and cultural department director Maya collectively received the book. The event concluded with a musical tribute titled ‘Sagarasangeetham’, featuring songs by Yesudas.
