Thiruvananthapuram: The inaugural ceremony of the fourth edition of Loka Kerala Sabha (LKS) has been cancelled in view of the Kuwait fire tragedy.
All seminars and other sessions planned for Thursday, the inaugural day, has been cancelled. The sessions will resume from Friday and will conclude on Saturday.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan took the decision following the tragedy in Kuwait where over 11 Keralites are feared killed in the fire that occured at an apartment.
As many as 351 delegates from 103 countries will attend the fourth LKS which will be held in the state capital.
“Loka Kerala Sabha has a wide range of objectives such as facilitating the association and cooperation of non-resident Keralites in other Indian states and in other parts of the world, ensuring their participation in the development and progress of the country and devising plans to solve their problems,” said Vijayan.
