The police have arrested the mother of the juvenile in the Porsche car accident case after confirmation that his blood samples were replaced with those of his mother, the city police chief confirmed on Saturday.

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar while talking to PTI said the accident investigation has revealed that the juvenile’s blood samples were replaced with those of his mother. Police had told a local court two days ago that the blood samples of the juvenile were exchanged with those of a woman.

Father and grandfather of juvenile sent to 14-day custody

Shivani Agarwal’s arrest comes just a day after a Pune court on Friday placed the juvenile’s father Vishal Agarwal and grandfather Surendra Agarwal in judicial custody for 14 days for allegedly kidnapping and wrongfully confining their family driver, Gangadhar Herikrub. The father-son duo, involved in the Porsche accident case, reportedly forced the driver to take blame for the fatal crash that killed two software engineers on May 19.

Produced before Judicial Magistrate A A Pande, the accused had previously been in police remand. Police stated the driver was with the juvenile in the Porsche during the crash in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area. Allegedly, the father-son duo threatened the driver, confined him in their house, and his wife eventually freed him from their servant quarters.

Juvenile in custody till June 5

The juvenile is currently in an observation home until June 5. The case took a twist when police revealed that the minor’s blood samples were manipulated at Sassoon General Hospital to show he wasn’t intoxicated. Consequently, Dr. Ajay Taware, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, and hospital employee Atul Ghatkamble were arrested for tampering with the samples.

Mother’s video pleading to protect her son goes viral

Adding to the controversy, a video of Shivani Agrawal, the minor’s mother, surfaced earlier on the Interent. In the video, she emotionally clarified that a viral video allegedly showing her son is fake. She then pleaded with the media to stop circulating the video and asks the Pune Police Commissioner to ensure her son’s safety.

The video clip starts with Shivani Agrawal flashing a phone screen showing the viral video to the camera. She then introduces herself and says, “I want to request the media that the videos that have been circulated are not of my son. They all are fake videos. My son is in the detention centre.”
