Thiruvananthapuram: General education department on Friday issued guidelines related to rabies prevention activities among students.
As per the guidelines, measures should be taken to prevent the proliferation and habitation of stray dogs within school compounds. Awareness should be raised among students about rabies and preventive actions. Students should be encouraged to immediately inform teachers or parents if they experience bites, scratches, or wounds from animals.
A special assembly should be held in schools on June 13, in collaboration with health department, to provide awareness on safety measures to prevent rabies. General education minister V Sivankutty instructed all deputy directors of education to ensure that all schools conduct these special assemblies. tnn
