Salem: PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss on Saturday urged the state government to initiate a probe into the appointment of the head of education department at Periyar University. He said vice-chancellor R Jagannathan had denied the post to a professor belonging to the scheduled caste community and appointed a backward caste person, who lacked qualifications and seniority.
Jaganathan had appointed associate professor Venkateswaran to the vacant post of the head of education department, ignoring professor Dhanalakshmi, who had appropriate qualifications and seniority. She was denied the post as she was a scheduled caste, Ramadoss said.
“This is unacceptable. This is a great social injustice and the government should order an inquiry into the VC’s action,” Ramadoss said.
