Sunny Deol talks about nepotism debate in the film industry

Sunny Deol is currently on a tour to promote his upcoming film, Gadar 2. It also stars Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to release on August 11. The actor-politician interacted with several media houses in the past couple of days. In one of the interviews, Sunny shared his view on nepotism and the debate around it.

Sunny told in an interview with Aaj Tak, “I think ye sab woh log failate hai jo frustrated he. Aur ye nahi smajhte ki jo aadmi… ki agar baap apne bete ke liye kar raha hai na…kaunsi family hai jo nahi karta? Aur jo apne bete ke liye karna chahta hai, toh usme bura kya hai? Lekin kaamyab toh woh hoga jo khud apne aap… (The nepotism debate has been spread by frustrated people. One has to understand that in a family, the child follows what his father does. What’s wrong if a father wants to do something for his son or daughter? If not his family, then who is the father working for? But the child has to become successful by themselves).”

He further added, “My father could not get into me to make me an actor. I cannot get into my sons to make them an actor… Papa is such a big icon, and I made my identity, and I am here. I am not like my dad, but we are very similar.”

Sunny is the elder son of veteran Dharmendra and his first wife Prakash Kaur. His younger brother Bobby Deol is also an actor. Their cousin Abhay Deol chose the same profession. Sunny`s firstborn, Karan Deol made his acting debut in 2019 with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. The actor-politician`s younger son Rajveer Deol is entering the film industry with Dono co-starring Poonam Dhillon`s daughter Paloma. Dharmendra, Sunny, Bobby and Karan will be sharing the screen space in Apne 2. The film is yet to go on floors.
