THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary M V Govindan on Friday accused a section of media of spreading baseless allegations against chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena T. He said a majority of media in state were either with BJP or Congress-led UDF and they were working against CPM and LDF govt by giving undue importance to lies.
Referring to charges raised by BJP functionary Shone George, Govindan said Exalogic Solutions, the now-defunct IT firm of Veena, and Dubai-based Exalogic Consulting had no connection with each other.Shone had alleged that crores of rupees were transferred from various international companies to a joint account of Exalogic Consulting, of which Veena and one Suneesh M were signatories.

‘BJP will suffer a setback in election’
Govindan also alleged that the media had not given due importance to the arrest of MP Shashi Tharoor’s former staff for smuggling gold.
The CPM leader accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of fanning communal passions for political gains and said BJP would suffer a setback in the election. “Modi’s statement about the popularity of Gandhiji and Richard Attenborough’s film ‘Gandhi’ was more lethal than what Godse had done to Gandhi.
We don’t know whether Narendra Modi would proclaim himself God once he ends his meditation in Kanyakumari,” he said.
On liquor policy, Govindan said CPM was yet to discuss any change to it. He, however, did not hazard a guess on the number of seats CPM will win in Lok Sabha poll, saying people had already cast their votes. “We don’t mind if you people predict zero seats for CPM. We won’t get swayed by media claims,” he said.
Govindan said KSU, the student wing of Congress, was in its last phase of existence and the ruckus at its recent camp indicated that. The LDF has not started any talk on Rajya Sabha seats, he added.
