Coimbatore: A 44-year-old woman who was arrested last month for making derogatory remarks against the police force on social media, was detained under the Goondas Act on Saturday.
The woman, identified as M Visvadharshini, 44, of RS Puram, was earlier arrested in connection with a cheating case on May 8. In 2020, she had written against the daughter of an actress on social media, for which she was booked under the Information Technology Act and sentenced to three years imprisonment.She also has cases against her at Vadavalli and Thudiyalur police stations.
She has been lodged at the special prison for women at the Coimbatore central prison. City police commissioner V Balakrishnan issued the detention order, a copy of which was served to her in prison.
